There’s nothing more fall than tweed! This past weekend, I was able to enjoy not only a dinner with my family but with my friends. My outfit for the family party was casual, but I was able to break out the old tweed suit for a dinner party hosted by my pals, Spencer and Jay. Every time I talk about fashion with someone, vintage clothes always come up. One of the questions I’m always asked is “Why do you wear such baggy pants?” People always assume that vintage trousers are baggy because they’re thinking of the zoot suit, which was popularized by cultural phenomena. This is simply not the case.
Fall is supposed to be the time of year when the weather starts to cool down a bit, but that definitely wasn’t the case for this Dapper Day. Even though the temperature was almost 100 degrees on Dapper Day, park-goers still showed up in their classy clothes! Here, we look at some of the awesome menswear that we thought stood out to us!
Dapper Day is the best bi-annual event of the year. It’s a day where you get to show up to the Disneyland park instyle, whether its vintage or modern! As expected, Spencer and I strolled around in our vintage outfits. Last time, we styled ourselves with the sharp peak lapels of the 1930’s, but this time we went 10 years later as the more laid back and swingin’ 1940’s.
Before airplanes and road trips took over America, the cruise was the premier vacation. You get to sail to exotic places while dining with the captain, play shuffleboard with your neighbors, or simply take a stroll on the deck to gaze upon the starlight reflected on the sea. Back then, passengers didn’t wear oversized hawaiian shirts or lengthy board shorts. In the 1930s, people wore their very best while on vacation. They had casual jackets and pants that today would look too dressy, for even the office. It’s been a while since we’ve seen some other vintage styles! Luckily, I was invited to McGinty’s in Pasadena for a preview opening of their new menswear section. Apparently, all of this stuff has been kept in storage containers for 14 years and now we got to take a look! Even though there was some awesome stuff for sale, the guys that went didn’t look too shabby either! Here’s some great looks!
