While we can talk about our own outfits at the 2017 Spring Outing, it’s great to let other people have the spotlight. Even though most of the day was filed with disneybounding (or dapper bounding), there were a few individuals who really knocked it out of the park, pun intended!

It’s been over a year since I’ve purchased an Made-to-Measure suit from Indochino. Now I realized that there were many issues with my first suit made from them, even though I got measured by their own sales associates in their store. The suit looked pretty good after tailoring (and I did get another suit made from them) but I decided not to try them again until I had the money and desire for another suit. Now that I’ve had sometime to learn more about fit, details, and my overall desired aesthetic, I thought I’d save up and give them other try! I also realized that I had a gaping hole in my wardrobe: I didn’t own a plain, navy blue double breasted suit. So I deleted my measurements, got measured by my friend Spencer, and bought a suit on Black Friday. It’s basically a whole new review on Indochino.
For the past 3 years, I’ve worn a tuxedo on New Years. I’d like to say that December 31, 2016 was no different, but the truth is that I’m wearing a sweater and jeans as I write this. However, I was able to wear my black tie ensemble to a NYE Eve (December 30th) party at the Cicada Club in Downtown Los Angeles! There was dancing, drinks, and a myriad of well dressed people ranging from vintage enthusiasts, swing dancers, and Hollywood types. Here’s what we wore to the event! It’s our bi-annual tradition to go to Dapper Day at Disneyland. People go to the parks dressed in their best attire, whether its vintage, vintage inspired, modern, or anything in between! While the style varied a lot between the guests, our group went decidedly 1930s-1940s as we usually do, combining textures and patterns as expertly as possible. As fall gets closure, it’s time to be basic and wear your Basic Green Jackets. We’ve seen them before with a casual attire, but what about with a suit?
If you can’t already tell, I really document my casual outfits. At one end, I typically dress down a suit or blazer with a polo shirt. For the other side of the spectrum, I go full 1990’s inspired, with a faded sweater and some jeans and sneakers. For this article, I decided to delve more into into an outfit that is more “casually tailored”, a term frequented by style bloggers like Dan Trepanier. My version looks toward the cool summer/vacation styles of the 1930s-1950s, where tucked in shortsleeves were all the rage. It’s perfect for summer, since you’re probably looking to leave your long-sleeve shirts at home.
This past weekend, I decided to challenge my self and wear a Double Breasted jacket every day. Most guys don’t like to wear double breasted suits and blazers since they think it’s too old school or it never fits right. Well, I’m here to prove you wrong; the double breasted jacket is awesome and is a definite great addition to your sartorial wardrobe. To add to the fun, I also decided to take the opportunity and craft outfits for three of my favorite styles!
Nothing is more classic than the colors of blue, grey, and brown. They are staples that every man should have in his closet, whether they take form as a suit, sportcoat, pants, or even ties! This article recreates an outfit from the Armoury (and Brycelands Co) utilizing these classic colors. The fact that my outfit costs $300 while the other costs $3,000 is an added bonus.
I’ll admit that sneakers weren’t always my thing. At first, I looked down upon sneakers as a plebian shoe, only meant for people who couldn’t handle suits and dressy clothes. Then I matured and learned through GQ and MFA that sneakers are actually very versatile and can work with a lot of different outfits. My first real foray into the sneaker world was the Nike killshot. For my second sneaker purchase, I went back to J. Crew and got their Onitsuka Tiger in navy blue suede. At $50 bucks, it’s my new favourite sneaker.
